2015 and 2016 - Happy New Year!

Every year, I look back over the past 12 months' accomplishments and near-misses, and set goals for the next 12 months. So here we go.

WINTER 2015 -- SNOW AND COLD

I always enjoy watching the snow pile up outside, while writing - and this winter, we sure had a lot!

My writing partner and I did manage to write Book 3 of our Eliza Doolittle & Henry Higgins mystery series. We also loved seeing great reviews for our first book, Wouldn't It Be Deadly.

EARLY 2015 -- AGATHA AWARD BEST HISTORICAL MYSTERY

To our delight and surprise, Wouldn't It Be Deadly was among several other St. Minotaur books nominated for an Agatha. D.E. Ireland didn't win the Best Historical, but what an honor to be named among the best of the best!! We enjoyed Malice Domestic, seeing friends and chatting about books and writing, meeting readers - click here to sign up for next year and meet your favorite mystery authors in person!

SUMMER 2015 -- PRAIRIE ROSE, MOVING & MACKINAC ISLAND

A COWBOY CELEBRATION came out for July 4th -- with my story "Winner Takes All".

Here's a review we received for this anthology:

"Cowboy Celebration is a Western Romance reader's dream. Each of the seven stories in this anthology will capture your heart, and each is just the right length to read when time is precious. All the authors are seasoned writers and know how to tug on your emotions, make you laugh, and maybe make you shed a tear... Winner Takes All by Meg Mims made me laugh through much of the story. Meg has a comical way of telling a love story--I loved it. And was so pleased by the ending." - Rising Star Reviews

My daughter moved to a new house, which was fun (not!), and is learning how different being a homeowner can be compared to an apartment renter. Hoo boy! We also took a mini day trip to Mackinac Island. Always restful and lovely, although a bit warm. Still, we enjoyed the summer weather, took a guided carriage ride around the island, and admired the flower gardens in front of the island's prettiest B&B, The Metevier Inn.

AUTUMN 2015 - BOOK 2, ELIZA DOOLITTLE & HENRY HIGGINS

I was thrilled along with my writing partner to see these reviews!

"The snappy pace and fun banter keep the story moving, while details about the suffragette movement, horse racing, fashion, and foods of the Edwardian era add plenty of appealing color, as does the quirky supporting cast."―Booklist

“They’re off to the races! D.E. Ireland has set Eliza Doolittle and Professor Higgins on a delightful romp set in the sophisticated world of British horseracing. The horses aren’t the only ones getting a workout. Eliza and the Professor can hardly keep up with the members of a racing syndicate, a bunch of passionate suffragettes, and Eliza’s own family. When people around them start dying, Eliza and the professor find themselves drawn into the investigation to protect those closest to them.” ―Victoria Thompson, bestselling author of Murder on Amsterdam Avenue CLICK HERE TO ORDER!

CHRISTMAS 2015 - ANTHOLOGY, NOVELLA & FAMILY

Of course, Christmas means family - and I have a big one. Lots of shopping along with writing, author book signings and presentations, plus other preparations filled October, November, and December. Here's a few family photos -- we saw the Detroit Zoo Lights, always lovely, but cold, partied, and played games during the holidays.

My short story, "A Holiday Hoax" is included in the Prairie Rose Publications anthology A MAIL ORDER CHRISTMAS BRIDE. I also managed to write a sequel to the Valentine's Day novella THE KEY TO LOVE, wrapping up Jenn and Steve's love story and future with THE KEY TO CHRISTMAS - and adding a "boxed set" called THE KEYS TO THE HOLIDAYS that includes both novellas. NEW YEAR'S AND A NEW COZY SERIES!

Last but not least, I received a wonderful Christmas surprise -- an offer from Kensington Books for a new cozy mystery series featuring a teddy bear toy shop and factory. I'll be using a new pseudonym, Meg Macy, keeping Meg Mims separate for my westerns, and don't forget D.E. Ireland as well! So in 2016 I'll be juggling a lot, indeed. I'm hoping to get a few more western short stories in the coming year, and then D.E. Ireland's third book, Get Me to the Grave On Time, should be out. Have a blessed New Year and thanks for your support!

Award-winning mystery author Meg Mims lives in Southeastern Michigan with her husband and a sweet Malti-poo. She loves writing historical and contemporary novels, novellas and short stories. Meg earned an MA in 2010 from Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction.
